I’m very excited that several excellent performers from Grand Valley are premiering works by me this semester, and I hope you’ll join me if you’re nearby:
March 4th: Anna Petrenko and Lindsay Myers premiere my “Wicked Problems” for saxophones and tape on a recital at the North American Saxophone Alliance Region 5 Conference at Indiana University-Purdue University, Fort Wayne. The 7:30pm concert features several premieres of jazz and electroacoustic works, and culminates with a performance by jazz extraordinaire James Carter. The piece will be performed at Grand Valley sometime in April.
April ???: Andrew Peters and Hannah Petersen present a recital of duets for saxophone and flute, including the premiere of my work “murmur, whistle, shout”.
…
In case I haven’t bothered you about it yet, my band, the Lake Effects, released our first full-length CD last month, “Ioway,” available for purchase on Bandcamp and streaming on Spotify.
From another side of things, on April 5th, my tuba quartet performs four new works by John Jansen, Wade Selkirk, Joshua Doane, and Paul Fake, alongside some of the classic ‘new’ works for low brass quartet. The 7:30pm concert will be livestreamed. On April 14th, Julia Bovee and I perform two movements of Erik Morales’s Concerto for Two Trumpets with the GVSU Symphonic Wind Ensemble as winners of the 2017 GVSU Concerto Competition. Also 7:30pm, also livestreamed.
