GVSU Varsity Men’s Glee Club 2015-16

My take on Mary E. Frye’s “Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep” will be premiered at the GVSU Varsity Men’s Glee Club annual Spring concert this Sunday, April 17th at 5pm. The performance will take at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in downtown Grand Rapids as a part of their Sacred Sounds Concert Series.

The work is written for TTBB choir with a solo quartet (two tenors and two baritones). This performance will feature Alex Williams, Gabe Ellis, Graham Smith, and Dan Schroeder (no relation) under the baton of Dr. Charles Norris.

I am very thankful for the group taking on my work as part of a concert that features rewarding works by notable composers including Moses Hogan (“My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord”), Eric Whitacre (“Lux Aurumque”), Aaron Copland (“The Walls of Zion”), and more. The GVSU Men’s Glee Club is nationally recognized, and regularly performs at the Intercollegiate Men’s Choruses Conference, including a concert at this years meeting at the University of Illinois.

The concert will take place at St. Mark’s at 5pm. You can find information about the church and congregation (including directions) at stmarksgr.org. The Glee Club has a facebook event, if that’s your thing, and there is information available on the GVSU music events calendar.
