Grand Valley State University New Music Ensemble’s RETURN, innova release 983, was the result of coast-to-coast collaboration amongst ensemble director Bill Ryan and GVSU alumni Matthew Finch, Adam Cuthbert, and Daniel Rhode. The compositions were created in several stages: loosely written by the alumni, interpreted and recorded by the ensemble, smashed and hacked in Live, and then supplemented by additional recorded material.
In order to perform the album live, several arrangements were created to reinforce, accompany, and embellish the recordings. I contributed three: glacier, background refresh, and dearest rewinder these.
