The game of chess mimics music composition in many ways. Beyond shared terminology, the way that one goes about developing a line, creating a transposition, or conceptualizing an ending are likewise similar. The similar fanaticism of music and chess devotees is also striking–many have dedicated their lives to the relatively niche and very limited fields.
